Today Firefighter Ryan Avery graduated from the 9 week Recruit Training Program at the Massachusetts Fire Academy in Stow. Avery and 24 other recruits made up Class #246. This training is critical for all new firefighters, and they learn the skill of their trade along with the importance of working as a team to meet their goals.
Aside from this tremendous achievement, Firefighter Avery was also awarded the Richard Bangs Outstanding Achievement Award. This award is presented to the recruit with the best overall academic scores and practical skill applications. Chief Norman Clarke Jr was part of the ceremony where this prestigious award was presented, and was very proud of Ryan’s efforts in both graduating and being chosen for this honor.
Firefighter Avery was hired in February after working as a Provisional Firefighter. He is currently enrolled in the Paramedic training program and previously worked as a call firefighter with the Brewster Fire Department.
